Welcome - We warmly welcome Bishop Richard Fenwick, the former Dean of Monmouth and former Bishop of St Helena, who will preside and preach for us today. Bishop Richard has also agreed to be the president of the Friends of St German’s.
Covid Risks Update - The Bench of Bishops of the Church in Wales have recently advised all parishes to review and look again at our public acts of worship. We have done this regularly and so our risk assessment states people must adhere to social distancing and so go straight to their chair and at the end of the service leave orderly. Recent suggestions are that people leave row by row rather than all at once. Once outside in the carpark, catch ups and some fellowship is possible because it is much safer in terms of infection rates and chances of the coronavirus spreading. Ash Wednesday and Lent - We will have sprinkling of ashes instead of imposition during the Ash Wednesday mass which will be at 10am in St German’s and 6pm in St Saviour’s. We will prepare on online stations of the cross from each church during Lent for people to pray at home. St German’s Ministry Area - Canon Stewart Lisk will be visiting after mass today to talk about the Ministry Area of Roath and Cathays which we will join on 1 Jan 2022. If you are interested in finding out about our ministry area and the processes involved in its formation please stay behind after mass. Funeral - The funeral of Irene Fawcett will be in St German’s on Thursday 18 February at 1pm. We pray for Irene and her friends and family at this time. Faith QI - Next meets on Wed 3 Feb at 7pm via zoom. The next topic will be ‘The Old Testament’. Each evening we explore a different topic related to our faith and spirituality - sometimes prayer, sometimes philosophy, sometimes theology. At the heart of it is a desire to understand and deepen our own faith. Other topics this year: Why go to Church, God and the Pandemic, God talk in a digital age, Spirituality, Who’s in Charge - God, Power and Authority. This is open to anyone at all, be they church goer, parishioner or not. Gardening - We’d like to resume our Gardening Club (first Saturday of the month from 11am-1pm. It is always weather permitting and so we’d like to meet on Saturday 6 Feb. Open to all. Zoom Bingo - We are looking at Monday 8 February for our first zoom bingo night. Please email Ross if you’d like to play along ross.pilliner18@stpadarns.ac.uk We hope to play five games and all proceeds can go to charity. We are hoping for donations of small prizes. Recently Departed - Sidney Carr, Carol Jones, Irene Fawcett, Frederick Green RIP
