St Saviour's News - 27 Jan 2019

Nightshelter Appeal -  This year, we are looking specifically for coats (male and female) that are in a very good condition (new or nearly new). We are also in need of gloves.  Please see Fr Phelim or the wardens for details.  The 8:00 am mass is open to all but is focused mainly on provision for our night shelter guests and helpers.  Please continue to pray for our guests and helpers each Saturday and Sunday morning.                              

Presentation of Christ in the Temple  (Candlemas) - This feast is transferred to next Sunday when we will have a blessing of candles and a procession.          

Croeso - Please take a copy of the latest edition of our diocesan magazine home.  Available at the back of the church.                          

First Aid - There are still places available for the first aid training to help us become more safe as a church.  See Fr Phelim (Tues 12 Feb 10-4pm).           

PCC Meeting - the Parish Council next meets on Tues 19 Feb 2019 at 7pm. We will look primarily at setting key dates for the year- social and liturgical.

Walsingham Pilgrimage Advance notice - 22-25 July 2019. If you’d like to book a place see please see Liz or the wardens.  More details soon.              

Concert - Geraint and his choir will be visiting St Saviour’s for a concert on Tuesday 5 March (Shrove Tuesday).

Week of prayer for Christian Unity Continues this week until Friday.  Please join us this evening in St Saviour’s at 6pm for our ecumenical service.    There will be prayer resources for individual use during the 8 days and also laminated copies in each church for people to pray when visiting the church.  The theme for the week of prayer is ‘Only Justice’.

Treorchy Male Voice Choir -concert at St German’s Church commencing at 7pm (doors open at 6pm) on Sat, 23 March 2019. Early indications suggest that this will be a very popular event and you are strongly advised to book tickets (£15 from Angela Parry) as soon as possible.                              

PCC Meeting - the Parish Council next meets on Mon 4 Feb 2019 at 6pm for mass with the business items at 6.45 pm.

Week of prayer for Christian Unity Begins this Friday and runs from 18-25 Jan. There will be prayer resources for individual use during the 8 days and also laminated copies in each church for people to pray when visiting the church. The joint service this year will be in St Saviour’s at 6pm on Sunday 20th Jan 2018.  The theme this year is ‘Only Justice’.  All are welcome.     
Nightshelter Appeal - We are now four weeks in to this year’s provision and it is time to ask for your help in other ways.  We are looking specifically for coats (male and female) that are in a very good condition (new or nearly new). We are also in need of gloves. Please see Fr Phelim or the wardens for details.  The 8:00 am mass is open to all but is focused mainly on provision for our night shelter guests and helpers.

The joint service this year will be in St Saviour’s at 6pm next Sunday 20th Jan 2018.  The theme this year is ‘Only Justice’.  All are welcome.

We are also in need of wet wipes and toiletries. Please see Fr Phelim or the wardens for details.                                     
Arthur Humpries RIP - His Requiem Mass is on Tuesday at 10am in church. 
Lent Appeal 2019 - will be for Water Aid.

St German's News - 6 Jan 2019 'Epiphany'

Epiphany - We continue to celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord today with a special service in St German’s this evening at 6pm, led by Geraint.  It is also a tradition to mark the entrance to a house, home or church with the initials of the three wise men and we ask people to stay for this blessing of chalk and  marking the entrance to the church at the end of mass.          

Nightshelter - We still need help with the nightshelter and especially with those able to cook for 15-20. Please keep our guests and volunteers in your prayers.  The 8:00 am mass is open to all but is focused mainly on provision for our night shelter guests and helpers.

Fr John Griffiths RIP - His funeral will be at the Shrine of Julian of Norwich in Norwich on Wed 10 Jan 2019. May he rest forever in the peace of Christ.

St Saviour's News - 6 January 2019 - Epiphany

Epiphany - We continue to celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord today with a special service in St German’s this evening at 6pm, led by Geraint.  It is also a tradition to mark the entrance to a house, home or church with the initials of the three wise men C+B+M (Could also be a prayer: Christus Benedicat Mansionem.) We’ll be blessing chalk for this purpose today.              

Sunday School - Resumes next Sunday after our break for Christmas.

Baptism  - We welcome Ocean & Poppy England into our faith family today.

Nightshelter - Please keep our guests and volunteers in your prayers.
