Easter Sunday - Mass for Easter Sunday will be online from the vicarage because of Coronavirus restrictions and social distancing. This will follow the Easter Vigil readings (available on our website). Overleaf are the readings for Easter Sunday morning. Please join us if you can online as we do our best to worship God using the traditional Easter Vigil liturgy (as much as we can). It is our hope that we may able to return as soon as possible to our church for Sunday masses during the Easter Season (still not public but recordings).
Holy Week - Many thanks to all who contributed to our online and virtual celebrations of the Holy Triduum. It is very heartening to hear how so many of our regular worshiping community have accessed the online masses and were able to pray along with them. Coronavirus Support - If you know of anyone who is need or can’t access food shopping or collecting medicines please let at least some of us know as we may be able to help. Any one of us could find ourselves in this position as the rules on social isolation and shielding for those who show symptoms of the coronavirus are pretty clear (7 & 14 days no leaving the home etc). If this happens to you please reach out to us and we will help as much as we can. Liturgical Ministries - Whilst our serving, tea and coffee and sides person rotes are suspended we’d like to revive the rota for reading and intercessions. The intercessions are normally written and read by individuals. If you can’t do the reading or prayers yourself on video it would be helpful if you asked/recruited someone else to do this in your place. Our hope is to increase parishioner involvement in our online worship. Parish Giving - Whilst many homes and businesses are under financial pressure (partly relieved by recent government intervention) our diocesan and parish church finances are also feeling the pinch. Whilst we have some small reserves to tide us over for a short while we would greatly appreciate if each of us could review our giving and especially the form it takes. Our treasurer would really appreciate it if regular giving was by way of standing order or perhaps the Church in Wales’ own scheme: Gift Aid Direct. Please see John Stuart or the wardens for details. The Church of today & tomorrow really needs whatever help and support you can give. Easter Course - Regardless of the coronavirus, we still hope to have an Easter course this year. Last year we followed Faith Pictures. If you would like this please let Fr Phelim know and we can source material and the best format (distance or virtual learning) it should be in. Easter Prize Draw - this important fundraiser continues as in previous years but we now have to schedule a new date (when it becomes safe to do so) when the prizes will be drawn. If you’ve tickets left please continue to sell them as before. Foodbank - Please continue to donate food locally. Whilst some foodbank distribution centres have closed others have remained open (please see Cardiff Foodbank website for details of these). For dropping off donated food Cardiff Foodbank Hub remains open in Splott on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:30-13:30 plus many supermarkets. Again see website for details. Recently Departed - Please pray for all those who have died as a result of Covid19 and those currently fighting for their lives. We pray as ever, for the former members of St German’s who have gone before us in faith, back to our merciful Lord.
