Palm Sunday - Mass for Palm Sunday will be online from the vicarage because of Coronavirus restrictions and social distancing. Please join us online as we do our best to worship God using the traditional Palm Sunday liturgy.
Holy Week - Even thought our services will be online (from the vicarage) we still need extra readers especially for the Triduum services. If you are able to read for these we’d appreciate it greatly. Options for this are to email a video selfie of your reading to Fr Phelim or to arrange a video call with Fr Phelim when he can record it. These will be then edited into the online services for the Triduum. Currently we need readers for: Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday evening; Good Friday Liturgy with Veneration of the Cross; Easter Vigil and First Mass of Easter on the Saturday night. If you can help, please let us know. Holy Triduum at Home - Please join in with our online services during Holy Week. We are doing these via recorded services on YouTube rather than live on Facebook. The readings below here can be of help in following and praying. Likewise, we hope to publish and distribute a special leaflet with prayer suggestions as to how we can encounter Christ and the power of Holy Week at home. As ever, suggestions on this will always be welcome. Coronavirus Support - If you know of anyone who is need or can’t access food shopping or collecting medicines please let at least some of us know as we may be able to help. Parish Giving - Whilst many homes and businesses are under financial pressure (partly relieved by recent government intervention) our diocesan and parish church finances are also feeling the pinch. Whilst we have some small reserves to tide us over for a short while we would greatly appreciate if each of us could review our giving and especially the form it takes. Our treasurer would really appreciate it if regular giving was by way of standing order or perhaps the Church in Wales’ own scheme: Gift Aid Direct. Please see Angela or the wardens for details. The Church of today & tomorrow really needs whatever help and support you can give. We in St German's were scheduled to have a review of our finances and stewardship around Pentecost this year and now this will be more urgent than ever. Easter Course - Regardless of the coronavirus, we still hope to have an Easter course this year. Last year we followed Faith Pictures. If you would like this please let Fr Phelim know and we can source material and the best format (distance or virtual learning) it should be in. Foodbank - whilst some foodbank distribution centres have closed others have remained open (please see Cardiff Foodbank website for details of these). For dropping off donated food Cardiff Foodbank Hub remains open in Splott on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:30-13:30 plus many supermarkets. Again see website for details. Recently Departed - Please pray for all those who have died as a result of Covid19 and those currently fighting for their lives. We pray too for Samantha Ewers and Patricia Mannings.
