Covid Risks Update - We need to review our risk assessment on a constant basis. Consequently, we need to remind people that when people come to church it is not an opportunity for social catch ups whilst in the building. Our risk assessment states people adhere to social distancing and so go straight to their chair and at the end of the service leave quietly. Once outside in the carpark, catch ups and some fellowship is possible because it is much safer in terms of infection rates and chances of the coronavirus spreading.
Funeral - The funeral of Irene Fawcett will be in St German’s on Thursday 18 February at 1pm. We pray for Irene and her friends and family at this time. Week of Prayer for Christian Unity - Normally takes place from 18-25 January each year. This year’s theme is Abiding in Christ. There is also an option for communities to celebrate this week of prayer in and around Pentecost which is what we will do this year because of the lockdown restrictions preventing a joint service or other ecumenical engagement. For those who want to pray this year, prayer resources are available from the CTBI website. Faith QI - Next meets on Wed 3 Feb at 7pm via zoom. The next topic will be ‘The Old Testament’. Each evening we explore a different topic related to our faith and spirituality - sometimes prayer, sometimes philosophy, sometimes theology. At the heart of it is a desire to understand and deepen our own faith. Other topics this year: Why go to Church, God and the Pandemic, God talk in a digital age, Spirituality, Who’s in Charge - God, Power and Authority. This is open to anyone at all, be they church goer, parishioner or not. Zoom Bingo - With the tier 4 lockdown we are exploring ways to support our parish community life. We are now looking at a Monday in February for this in the evening and after our 6pm mass. See Ross Pilliner for details. We hope to play five games and proceeds can go to charity. We are hoping for donations of small prizes. Thank you Once again to Richard Davey for the money raised for the Church and for our charity by his preparation and sale of the calendars. Recently Departed - Kathleen Cartlidge, Violet Miller, Carol Jones, Irene Fawcett, Frederick Green RIP
