Cardiff Churches Nightshelter  Forms available at the back of the Church for those who want to sign up to help.  There will be a training session on Mon 11 December in St German’s Hall at 7pm for all our helpers.  More details on training to follow.     

Bishop June Osborne - We are delighted to welcome Bishop June to St German’s to preside and preach on the 2nd Sunday of Advent (10 December).  It will be a momentous occasion and it would be great to see as many as possible to greet her. 

Rome Pilgrimage- No weekday services 4-8 Dec because of the Rome pilgrimage.  Cardiff Foodbank - Urgent items: tinned tomatoes, fruit juice (concentrate), rice pudding tins, sponge pudding, tinned fruit. Not needed: beans, cereals, tea, pasta.  

Warm Clothes Appeal - We hope to have a small collection of clean, dry and warm clothing available of our Nightshelter guests this winter.  Please see the wardens for details about donations.                                  

Advent Benediction - St Saviour’s at 6pm on Sunday 10 December.  All welcome.     

Reconciliation Service - St Saviour’s at 7pm on 13 December.  All are welcome.     

Praying the O Antiphons - in the week before Christmas we will have some quiet reflections at 7pm, inspired by the O Antiphons (prophetic titles of Christ), in St German’s and St Saviour’s.

Christian Unity - Advance notice of the week of prayer for Christian Unity 18-25 January 2018.  This year’s theme: ‘That all may be free’.  More details of a joint service to follow.

Lights of Love - Evening of traditional carols and readings run by the Sands charity in St Saviour’s on Friday 8 December at 7:30pm.                      

Cardiff Foodbank - Urgent items: tinned tomatoes, fruit juice (concentrate), rice pudding tins, sponge pudding, tinned fruit. Not needed: beans, cereals, tea, pasta.

New Mass Setting - We introduce our new mass setting next week, the first Sunday of Advent.  There is a link to the music on our website.

Rome Trip - Meeting today in the hall after coffee.                      

Bazaar - Many thanks to all who came and helped at yesterday’s bazaar.  We raised over £600 for the Church and are confident this will rise to £800.  A wonderful achievement in fundraising and in offering a service to our local community.      

Advent Lessons & Carols by Candlelight - Sun 3 Dec 2017 at 6pm.  Join us as we begin to celebrate the season of Advent.  Mulled wine and Mince pies afterwards.

Remembrance Sunday - The act of Remembrance at 11am will be led by Geraint today.  Geraint will also play the Last Post. Please join us.           

November - We pray for the repose of the souls of all the faithful departed. 

Fundraising Team - If you would like to help and be part of a fundraising team please contact Fr Phelim.                                

Cardiff Churches Nightshelter  Forms available at the back of the Church for those who want to sign up to help during the evening, the night or the morning teams.  Please indicate if you might be able to help on the evening, the night or the morning teams.  Our hope is to have a rota of enough people that allows us to be on ‘duty’ once every three weeks.                  

Cardiff Deanery Conference - in St Mark’s Gabalfa this Thursday 16 November at 7:30pm.  Fr Phelim will be presenting on our ministry to the homeless and the Churches Nightshelter. This is open to all.              

Service Times - We are currently consulting about what might be the best time for our Sunday service.  Please let us know your opinion.

Thank You to all who helped at the parish lunch - £318 was raised for parish funds.       

​Cardiff Churches Nightshelter  Forms available at the back of the Church for those who want to sign up to help during the evening, the night or the morning teams.  Please indicate if you might be able to help on the evening, the night or the morning teams.  Our hope is to have a rota of enough people that allows us to be on ‘duty’ once every three weeks.      

PCC Meeting  -Tomorrow Mon 13 after the 6pm mass. Focus to be on mission and worship.

Advent and Christmas
- A page outlining the services for Advent and Christmas will be available next week.                                

November - This month we pray for the repose of the souls of all the faithful departed.      

Trees Unleaving - Help is needed over the next few weeks, to clear the leaves as they drop from the trees. Please have a word with Peter Lovitt if you are able to help.          

Dementia café is tomorrow from 2:00pm until 4:00pm – this month we will be holding a ‘Tea Dance’ and everyone is invited to attend.                         

Pre Christmas Bazaar – next Saturday 18 November - All contributions for the various stalls will be greatly appreciated as well as help beforehand to set it all up on the Friday evening and on the day itself.  As well as help in setting up,  we also need as many people as possible to come and support us please. This is not only a fundraising event but also an opportunity for us to involve St German’s with our local Community. Have a word with Richard Hill if you able to help in any way, however small.                            

Oshi’s World in Penarth - a facility that supports families with disabled children by voting for it through the Aviva Community Fund  (www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk) David Murphy’s daughter Anna gave birth to Osian in 2015 and he has a rare condition called AGS1. Anna experienced a lack of inclusion and accessibility in the community for families with disabled children and together with her two sisters established Oshi’s World.

PCC Meeting  - The next meeting of the parochial council is this Tuesday 7 Nov at 7pm.  Our focus is: mission, outreach and worship for Advent & Christmas.

​Sung Mass - Please note that we now sing ‘Christ will come in glory’ after the Christ has died, Christ is risen proclamation.  Also, we are currently rehearsing a new Mass setting by Steven Janco (see our website for a video of the music).  We will introduce this for Advent.

Parish Lunch for All Saints of Ireland and Wales - There is to be a three-course Parish lunch today in celebration of our Celtic saints.  We are anticipating this week’s feasts for the Welsh and Irish saints today and pray that we may continue their ministry of hope to a secular world.

PCC Meeting 
- The next meeting of the parochial council is on Monday 13 November after the 6pm mass.  The focus of this meeting will be on our mission and outreach  Our focus is: mission, outreach, worship for Advent & Christmas seasons.             

Remembrance Sunday - is next Sunday and we will remember those who have sacrificed their lives for others in a special act of solemn remembrance.

Thank You - To Peter and Hilary Lovitt for all their recent work in tidying and caring for our memorial garden.  Please have a look to appreciate their efforts.

Forms are available at the back of the Church for those who want to sign up to help during the evening, the night or the morning teams.  Our meetings last week were well attended and already we’ve a number of people committed to helping from St Saviour’s and St German’s yet we still need more help to make this work bearable.                                      

Cardiff Deanery Conference - in St Mark’s Gabalfa on Thurs 16 November at 7:30pm.  Fr Phelim will be presenting on our ministry to the homeless and the Nightshelter.      

Dementia café on Monday 13 November from 2:00pm until 4:00pm – this month we will be holding a ‘Tea Dance’ and everyone is invited to attend.
